End of the Year Reflections & New Starts - Viking King Trading Update

Well, here we are at the tail end of 2025, and honestly? It's been one hell of a ride. I'm sitting here with an energy drink thats gone warm (because apparently I get distracted easily), looking back at what Viking King Trading has become this year, and I'm both exhausted and pumped for what's coming next.

You know how sometimes you look back at January and think "damn, did I really think THAT was going to be the plan?" Yeah, that's been my entire year. But in the best possible way.

Website Overhaul: Finally Got Our Shit Together

Let me start with the big news, we just launched a complete website overhaul. And by "just," I mean like, within the last few days. I've been tweaking and testing and probably obsessing over details that nobody else cares about, but hey, that's what happens when you're running a one-man show and you actually give a damn about what you're putting out there.

The old site wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. You know that feeling when something works but you know it could work better? That was us for way too long. The new setup is cleaner, faster, and actually makes sense when you're trying to find what you're looking for. Whether you're hunting for beard oils, checking out our leather goods, or browsing through our wall decor, everything flows better now.

Plus, and this is the part I'm actually excited about, the backend stuff that nobody sees but makes everything run smoother. Shopping cart doesn't randomly eat your items anymore (yeah, that was embarrassing), and the whole checkout process doesn't feel like you're navigating a medieval torture device.

Shipping & Sales: Live Right Now

Speaking of things that actually work now, we've overhauled our shipping and sales setup too. This isn't some "coming in soon" promise that you'll forget about by tomorrow. This is happening right now, as you're reading this.

Shipping costs are down across the board. I finally found a way to negotiate better rates without compromising on speed or reliability, which means more money stays in your pocket and less goes to shipping companies that frankly have enough money already. And our processing times? Cut those down significantly.

The sales side got some love too. I'm not talking about those fake "everything must go!" sales that happen every other week. I mean actual price improvements on things like our engraved items and some of the wood projects that honestly were priced higher than they needed to be. Sometimes you gotta admit when you're being a little too greedy, right?

NorseForged Gathering 6: Where Fantasy Meets Reality

Now here's something I'm genuinely excited about, we're planning to hit up NorseForged Gathering 6 next year. If you haven't heard of it, check out norseforgedgathering.com to get a feel for what it's about. This isn't your typical craft fair or trade show. It's more like stepping into a fantasy realm where Vikings, medieval knights, and mythical creatures all hang out together.

The whole event is this incredible mix of craftsmanship, storytelling, and community that honestly aligns perfectly with what we're about at Viking King Trading. I've been watching this gathering grow over the years, and it's become this amazing space where people who appreciate old-world craftsmanship and modern creativity can come together.

I'm planning to bring some of our best pieces, definitely some leather goods, probably our popular tumbler designs, and maybe even debut some new pieces that I've been working on. There's something about being in person, seeing people actually handle your work, that you just can't replicate online.

Social Media: The DIY Approach

We don't have some fancy agency to run our social media. Everything you see on our social platforms? That's me, probably at weird hours, posting pictures of whatever I'm working on or just random thoughts about craftsmanship and life in general.

There's something to be said for keeping it real and unfiltered. When you see a post from Viking King Trading, it's actually from me, not some 22-year-old marketing grad who's never held a piece of leather or understood why someone would want a custom engraved piece in the first place.

Sure, my posting schedule is erratic and I probably use too many curse words for a "professional" business account, but that's who we are. We're not trying to be corporate smooth. We're trying to be honest about what we make and why we make it.

What We Won't Be Doing

While we're talking about keeping it real, let me clear up something else. I won't be offering hands-on classes or workshops. I see other craftspeople doing this, and more power to them, but I'm not talented enough as a teacher to pull that off. I can make things that people seem to like, but breaking down my process in a way that actually helps someone else learn? That's a whole different skill set that I don't have.

I'd rather focus on getting better at what I do know how to do, making quality pieces that people actually want to own and use. Whether that's our Mead Hall Beard Oil that actually works (and smells amazing), or custom pieces that mean something personal to whoever orders them.

The Brick and Mortar Dream

Here's something I've been thinking about more and more, someday, if I can ever afford it, I'd love to set up an actual brick and mortar shop. Right now it's just a dream that lives in the "maybe someday" category, but damn, wouldn't that be something?

Picture this: a place where you can actually feel the leather before you buy it, see how the engraving looks under different lighting, maybe even watch some of the crafting process happen in real time. Not classes or workshops, just... the work happening where people can see it.

The reality is that physical retail is expensive as hell, especially if you want to do it right. Rent, utilities, insurance, all the permits and paperwork: it adds up fast. But there's something appealing about having a space where the online community could become a physical community, you know?

For now, it stays a dream. But dreams have a way of becoming goals if you feed them right.

What's Actually On Our Shelves

Let me remind you what we're actually about, in case you're new here or just need a refresher. We make stuff that's built to last and designed to mean something. Not mass-produced garbage that falls apart after six months, but pieces that get better with use and time.

Our beard oil collection isn't just about smelling good (though they do smell fantastic). These are formulated to actually nourish your beard and the skin underneath. The Mead Hall blend has become our bestseller for good reason: it's got this warm, slightly sweet scent that doesn't overpower but definitely gets noticed.

The leather goods are where my heart really is, though. Every piece is hand-selected leather, hand-stitched, and built to handle whatever life throws at it. We're talking about items that will outlast their owners if properly cared for. Wallets, belts, pouches: functional art that gets more character as it ages.

And the custom engraving work? That's where personal meets permanent. Whether it's a meaningful quote, a date that matters, or just something that makes you smile every time you see it, we can put it on wood, leather, or metal in a way that's going to last.

Looking Forward

So what's next for Viking King Trading? Honestly, more of the same but better. I want to expand our product lines without losing focus on quality. I want to keep improving our processes: both the making and the selling sides of things. And I want to stay connected with the community of people who appreciate this kind of work.

The NorseForged Gathering will be our fourth major in-person event, and depending on how that goes, maybe we'll start looking at other festivals and gatherings where our kind of people hang out.

We'll keep the website fresh and functional, keep shipping fast and affordable, and keep making things that matter. No fancy agencies, no corporate polish, no pretending to be something we're not.

Just good work, honest prices, and the kind of customer service that comes from actually giving a damn about the people who choose to support what we're doing.

Thanks for sticking with us through 2024. Here's to making 2025 even better: one carefully crafted piece at a time.

Stay sharp,
Greg
